Passionate Practitioner of
Born and raised in Hong Kong, Stella has been enchanted by the world of Chinese ink painting for over 25 years. Behind her gentle and elegant demeanour lies a vibrant soul with a passion for arts and culture.
A former kindergarten teacher, Stella dedicated herself entirely to raising her four children after marriage. While she devoted her youth to her family, the flame of her artistic passion has never left her. After the children have grown up, Stella embarked on a new journey of self‑discovery — exploring floral arrangement and the Chinese zither (guzheng), before ultimately finding her true calling in Chinese ink painting, which marked the beginning of her dedicated artistic odyssey.
Starting with traditional landscapes, Stella eventually found her heart's delight in the auspicious themes such as flowers and birds, and pine trees with cranes. Over the years, Stella has studied under several prominent teachers and maintained a disciplined daily practice. Embracing the digital age, Stella continues to refine her techniques through online masterclasses and art exchanges.
To Stella, Chinese ink painting is more than just an art form; it is a sanctuary for the soul and the impetus for one's own continuous growth. Her works capture the serenity of pine trees and cranes, and the lively dynamic between birds and flowers. Stella's every brushstroke tells a timeless story with an uncompromised passion that transcends the ages.
We warmly invite you to a special exhibition of serene mountain river landscapes, cranes, bamboo, plum blossoms, and lotus flowers brush paintings by visiting artist Stella Wan, travelling from Hong Kong to showcase her work in Frinton-on-Sea.
